Summary. KeepAI is a fully local app. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising or tracking SDKs, and no servers of ours.
What stays on your device
Everything you create or import in KeepAI is processed and stored exclusively in the app's private storage on your device:
- Chats and chat history
- Imported documents (PDF/text) and images
- Personal notes, memory entries, and chat exports (“Personal Knowledge”)
- Settings (theme, model selection, knowledge toggles)
- Downloaded AI model files
AI inference (answers, image understanding, dictation transcription) runs entirely on-device. No prompt, document, or recording is ever transmitted to us or to third parties.
What the app uses the internet for
Solely for the one-time download of AI model files during setup (or when you later add another model). Models are fetched directly from public model repositories (Hugging Face); their standard access logs apply as with any file download on the web. Nothing from your usage is transmitted. Alternatively you can sideload models fully offline via file import.
Permissions
- Internet: only for the model download described above.
- Microphone: only for the local dictation feature. Recordings are transcribed on-device and are neither stored nor transmitted. The app asks explicitly before first use.
Data deletion
Delete your data by removing content in the app (e.g. “Retention” in Settings) or by
uninstalling the app. Uninstalling removes all app data; no copies exist outside your
device. Android system backup is disabled (allowBackup=false).
Children
KeepAI is not directed at children under 13.
